Helvar’s EL-si digital DALI ballast provides smooth dimming from 100% to 1% for linear fluorescent lamps and is compatible with any DALI-compatible lighting control system, such as those produced by Helvar. The DIGIDIM input includes a DALI power supply, which can provide limited power for components in a DALI system and thereby eliminate the requirement for a central DALI power supply. Helvar also offers a DALI-compatible compact fluorescent ballast that provides a 100% to 3% dimming range.

DALI-compatible product: EcoSystem
Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.'s EcoSystem fluorescent lighting control solution is built upon the EcoSystem 
ballast, which connects directly to photocells, infrared (IR) receivers, occupant sensors and wallstations, without interfaces, power packs or controllers. The intelligent EcoSystem ballast interprets data collected by the sensors and wallstations, adjusts light levels accordingly and then transmits the information to other ballasts.
The EcoSystem ballast replaces the non-dim ballast in a fixture. Once the appropriate sensors are connected to the ballast, these fixtures can be grouped together, forming uniquely-controlled communities within the larger lighting control system. The EcoSystem solution is designed to make lighting control simple to design from one ballast in one fixture, to many fixtures, to an entire building or campus of buildings. DALI-compatible product: PCA EXCEL one4all Digital Ballasts
TridonicAtco’s PCA EXCEL one4all digital ballasts are programmed-start high-frequency dimmable electronic 
ballasts available as 1- and 2-lamp models for operation of T5, T8 and compact fluorescent lamps, with a dimming range of 100% to 1% for linear lamps and 100% to 3% for compact fluorescent lamps. The ballasts can be operated either with AC or DC power, enabling potential for emergency lighting, with memory storage of the last light level prior to a power outage.
These ballasts offer an expansive feature set: The ballast’s “smart heating” concept provides good lamp management, the Intelligent Voltage Guard feature provides a preventive measure against undervoltages and overvoltages, and the Intelligent Temperature Guard feature monitors the ballast temperature to prevent it from being damaged by excess heat. Additional features include compatibility with the Digital Serial Interface (DSI) protocol, ability to be used with a momentary contact pushbutton switch at line voltage for ON/OFF and raise/lower functions, and the “corridor function”—by using an occupancy sensor at line voltage, the ballast can slowly dim the lights when the room becomes unoccupied.

DALI-compatible product: KL6811 power supply and Ethernet-DALI gateway
Beckhoff’s KL6811 DALI/DSI master and power supply terminal enables the connection of up to 64 DALI slaves to the company’s building automation system that can then be configured via a PC using the company’s KS2000 software. The PC is directly coupled with a DALI bus via an RS232 interface or via the field bus. The integrated power supply unit generates an electrically isolated output voltage of 24V DC. No further components are required for the operation of the DALI slaves. The KL6811 operates field bus-independent. Also available is the BC9000 module, which provides a TCP/IP interface to the KL6811 DALI module.

DALI-compatible product: DT5 Interface
Luella Enterprises' DALitalkerV (DT5) interface allows DALI systems and conventional DMX dimmers to work together sharing the same DALI-
based controls. The DALI presets are stored within the DALI ballasts, which are configured and programmed by the DALI control stations as normal. The DMX presets are stored within the DT5 interface and are programmed by any DMX device using Luella's DMX snapshot mode firmware. Once the presets are programmed, both the DMX and DALI scenes are recalled together by the same DALI control stations. This solution is well suited to applications using a mix of conventional dimmers and fixtures and DALI fixtures. (Most conventional dimmers today are DMX compatible, but any non-DMX dimmers can be converted to DMX, according to the company.)
There are three advantages for this product, according to Luella. First, it allows industry-standard DALI-based controls from multiple manufacturers to be used together to control both DALI and DMX preset systems. Second, low-end to high-end controls are now available for the DALI protocol. And third, it offers an inexpensive multiple room combination capability due to the nature of the DALI protocol.

DALI-compatible product: Lighting Management Control System Controllers
Lumenergi's LMCS Controller houses a high-reliability embedded Single Board Computer (SBC) system that also provides input and output connectors for lighting management and control. Output controls include 32 DALI streams with 2048 DALI ballast address capability. Controllers, in turn, can be networked to build a Lighting Management Control System. Each Controller can vary lamp brightness over a continuous range from OFF to 100%. In lamp zones where photosensors are also installed, the LMCS Controller periodically samples the measured illumination within the zone and adjusts accordingly to provide the right light levels. The LMCS Controller, in conjunction with the LMCS Remote Server, dynamically maintains a fluid but preset lighting level range regardless of variations within the space.
DALI-compatible product: EcoSystem

DALI-compatible product: DALI Wireless Converter
Spire Lighting offers a complete line of DALI-compatible exit signs and emergency lighting fixtures. Spire Lighting's DALI Wireless converter from Spire Lighting, available December 2007, is designed to work seamlessly within the DALI framework. Utilizing Spire lighting custom application specific ICs, this unique product contains a 10mA selectable DALI power supply for installations where only 1 or a few DALI devices are connected to the bus. On installations where more devices are connected to the same physical bus wires a additional DALI power supply can be connected. The Wireless converter has a small profile and can be included inside the fixture easily. Its antenna can be removed and wired externally for metal enclosures, while OEMS have a choice of antenna options. Some applications that the DALI wireless converter suits include entire building retrofits, adding dimming to existing light fixtures, for DALI commissioning, to reach areas that are difficult to wire, and to achieve wireless lighting.

The SYPM DALI module allows integration of DALI-compatible digital ballasts and controls with Lithonia’s Synergy lighting control system. Users create lighting environments (scenes) via push-button programming for a variety of common activities, then recall those scenes with the push of a 
button. Comprised of wall-based controllers, a power supply, DALI ballasts and a communications databus, ezDALI provides 100%-1% dimming for linear fluorescents and 100%-3% for compact fluorescents. Designed to be simple to wire, commission and operate, ezDALI does not require software programming or other specialized commissioning tools. Push-button programming enables installers and users to set up and reconfigure the system as needed without rewiring. ezDALI is well-suited for conference rooms, lecture halls, classrooms, auditoriums and executive offices.

DALI-compatible products: SeriesONE, Studio CycSeries
SeriesONE fixtures have been optimized for the use of energy-efficient fluorescent lamps for television broadcasting and videoconferencing applications. A variety of dimming options are available, including phase, DIMX and DALI, with linear dimming to 1%.
Studio CycSeries, a winner of NAB’s Vidy Award, consists of color-changing fluorescent fixtures that are dimmable to 1% through standard protocols including DMX-512 and DALI.

Zumtobel recently added its Integral Daylight/Occupancy Sensor (IDOS) to its line of Ethos and Spheros T5 fluorescent light fixtures. The 2-inch-diameter sensor is connected to a DALI ballast, which provides individual control of the fixtures. The pre-programmed Plug-and-Play unit senses and responds to light levels in a room, and includes a remote control that can independently operate fixtures. The IDOS also detects motion in a room and turns lights on or off correspondingly.
